ICNet International, Ltd. Establishes North American Headquarters in Chicago Area

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 14, 2011

ICNet International Ltd, a UK corporation and the global leader in Infection Prevention surveillance software serving over 1000 hospitals globally, announced it has opened its North American office in Warrenville, Illinois, led by local technology executive, Adam Boris.

Adam Boris, CEO for ICNet Systems, Inc. stated, ?The Chicago area is the perfect location to create and build our North American operations. Chicago is home to internationally respected hospitals, some of the finest universities in North America, and a very vibrant healthcare and technology community.?

Pat Beyer, Global CEO for ICNet International added, ?With the hiring of Adam Boris earlier this year, ICNet Systems has begun the process of building our North American operations in the Chicagoland area. We are actively developing national and regional sales teams in the U.S. and Canada. We are also actively seeking marketing, IT support professionals, and administrative personnel. In addition, we are aggressively developing relationships with North American value added resellers and channel partners.?

As dramatized by the recent release of the movie Contagion, many are reminded of the potential risks of community acquired infections. In reality, however, there is a silent killer in America?s hospitals - hospital acquired infections. In fact, one out of 20 hospitalized patients is affected by Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs). According to the CDC, HAIs are one of the top ten leading causes of death in the US, killing more Americans each year than AIDS, breast cancer, and auto accidents combined. There were an estimated 1.7 million HAIs causing 99,000 deaths in 2002.

> From statics provided by ICNet, the mortality rate for patients with a hospital-acquired infection was 12.9% compared to 2.3% for patients without an HAI. Many hospitals defend several legal claims each year for HAI liability.

> Medicare no longer allows cost recovery for infections acquired more than 48 hours after admission. Medicaid and many private insurers have followed suit and restricted or reduced HAI claims.

> From statistics provided by ICNet, the average length of stay for patients with HAIs is extended by 16.1 days, resulting in average excess costs of $ 16,471 per stay. ($ 4.7M in annual excess cost for an average hospital.)

> There is an increasing risk of ?super bugs? spreading throughout the healthcare system. In a 2007 study of 28,000 reported HAIs, 16% were found to be Multiple Drug Resistant Organisms (MDROs) of which 50% were Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA).

New figures published 12th January, 2011 by Health Protection Scotland (HPS) show that NHS Fife, a hospital using ICNet software, continues to make significant progress in reducing HAIs. Case numbers in Fife for July to September 2010 fell to 0.28 cases per 1000 occupied bed days, a decrease of 19% from the previous quarter, 80% down from the same period two years ago, and 40% below the national average.

Discussing the importance of establishing a North American headquarters to provide state-of-the-art HAI surveillance technology in the U.S. and Canada, Boris continued, ?We understand the burden of increased demands for government reporting for the NHSN, Medicare (CMS) benchmarking and trending, and compliance with core measures. With 9% of all CMS revenue soon to be at risk and national media attention focused on infection rates and patient safety, the need for an automated electronic reporting tool for IPs has never been greater.?

ICNet Systems is proud to sponsor the Chicagoland Patient Safety Summit (CPSS) along with CHEF (Chicago Healthcare Executives Forum), the University of Illinois Medical Center and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Many other prominent organizations have joined in sponsoring the event, including the Chicago Medical Society, the Illinois Hospital Association, and the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). CPSS is being held from September 13th to the 15th at University of Illinois ? Chicago Forum, with an exceptional panel of healthcare and patient safety leaders, leaders, including Dr. Howard K. Koh, who serves as the Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and James M. Galloway, MD, Assistant US Surgeon General. Over 300 medical and executive leaders are expected to attend.

International Design Award Spotlights Leading Thai Branding and Advertising Agency

New York, New York (PRWEB) December 11, 2007

The Spark Awards, launched this year, recognize design excellence in a broad variety of categories for both professional, novice and student designers. Spark entries may include designs from graphics, product, digital, advertising, systems, mobility and architecture disciplines.

The Spark Awards' 15 person multi-disciplinary jury chose Midnite Oil Design's new logo for its skillful reinterpretation of the agency's original logo. The creative identity rethink came as part of Midnite Oil's 10th anniversary celebration.

Inspired by the phrase "burning the Midnite oil," the design team imagined the random splattering of oil drops during a frenzied night of artistic creativity. The resulting graphic depicts two overlapping black circles. The thickness and gloss of the oil reflected the company monogram, "M" for Midnite Oil.

The team chose orange for the M, representing power, energy and readiness for action. To complement the logo, a design motif of splattered oil drops was created to be used on business cards, letterhead and other elements of Midnite Oil's corporate identity package.

"The original logo displayed a black drop of lamp oil with turquoise lightning in the shape of the letter M. The approach had become dated and the palette lacked energy," said Midnite Oil Co-Founder and Design Director, Mongkolsri Janjarasskul, who served as art director and designer for the winning entry. He was joined on the project team by illustrator and animator Danai Tanee.

"The new logo and branding design required a symbol to show us as dynamic and energetic, a symbol to inspire confidence as we expanded our presence in the international corporate community."

The design team's solution satisfied all of the original design objectives. The team found a new way to represent the oil visually and gave it a more lively and energetic look. It has a 3-D feeling without looking overly scientific or high tech. It's also easily adaptable to printing in one-color applications and recognizable even when reduced and placed in front of a website URL.

Midnite Oil's award-winning logo also meets the high standards of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. In a 1991 essay, the AIGA's Paul Rand wrote: "A well designed logo...is a reflection of the business it symbolizes. It connotes a thoughtful and purposeful enterprise, and mirrors the quality of its products and services. It is good public relations--a harbinger of good will."

Midnite Oil is an award-winning multi-disciplinary design firm based in Bangkok. It was founded in 1993 by experienced advertising agency designers, all graduates of US design schools. Its services cover all aspects of product branding. In addition to print media incorporating graphic design, packaging design and advertising, Midnite Oil offers shop and display layout concepts, website construction and interactive design works.

Midnite Oil's international clients include JVC, McDonald's, Clairol, Schweppes, EMI, Fieldcrest/Cannon, Prudential Insurance, Amway and more. Major Thai clients include TOA (Paint) and Bangkok Post.

The Spark Awards' independent jury of design experts judged hundreds of submissions. It awarded 62 designs, including Midnite Oil's, each among the best of the world in seven categories from mobility to architecture. The entire roster of winning entries is available in an Online Exhibition.

"Interest in design has never been higher," said Peter Kuchnicki, President and Executive Director of Spark. "There are no limits to what great design can accomplish - and no limits to possible recognition by the Spark Awards. We're looking at the future and seeing a dazzling array of design solutions to 21st century challenges."

Sponsors of the 2007 Spark Awards are as wide-ranging as the contest itself. They include Hewlett Packard, frog design, Dwell Magazine, Automobile Magazine, Design Within Reach, RedClay Websites, San Francisco Mart, California College of Art, Rutgers NCPP, School of Visual Arts, University of California College of Environmental Design, University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, AIGA SF and Billingsly & Brown Productions.

Growing International Demand For Lane End Team Building Venues

Lane End, Buckinghamshire (PRWEB) July 27, 2011

Lane End Conference Centre is seeing increasing demand for its international team building venues thanks to its unique combination of specialist service, high quality facilities and proximity to Heathrow Airport.

United Biscuits Ltd is the latest major international corporate to have enjoyed team building activities hosted by the Buckinghamshire residential conference centre at its 26-acre site.

More than 70 guests from United Biscuits? global finance team ? including some from as far as India ? gathered at Lane End to celebrate a successful end to their financial year.

Lane End?s dedicated conferences and events team partnered with CiEvents and team building company Chillisauce to provide the client with a day of motorised activities including off-road buggies, blind driving and Segways.

It began with a barbecue at The Pavilion ? one of five completely self-contained training venues at Lane End in close proximity to the team building grounds ? and culminated in a three-course gala dinner with a live band, giant Scalextric and chocolate fountain.

United had booked the event six months in advance to enable the international conference centre and its partners to put together a team building day that would meet its needs precisely.

Emma Walton from CiEvents said: ?I was given the task of sourcing a suitable venue in the South Buckinghamshire area. The key requirements were the proximity of the venue to Heathrow Airport, the quality of facilities and grounds and the standard of the bedrooms.

?I recommended three venues that were very similar in terms of price but offered very different facilities. What made the client choose Lane End in the end was the high level of service and the degree of flexibility offered from the point of first enquiry,? she added.

Lane End Sales and Marketing Manager Heni Fourie and Conference Sales Executive Sophie Morris held a series of meetings with the United Biscuits team to help the client understand the space, noting their exact requirements and ensuring that every single detail was considered.

United Biscuits spokesperson Sue Harris said of Lane End: ?The venue was perfect for our activities.

?The staff were brilliant and very helpful ? the service was spot on. If we needed anything there was always someone around to help and advise.

?The bedrooms were very clean and welcoming and the hotel did a great job of putting all our products bags in the rooms.?

Recently, Lane End also showcased its team building venues and corporate events facilities with a big Summer Party attended by more than 120 guests from major companies and organisations across the UK.

They spanned a wide range of sectors including construction, pharmaceuticals, charities, sport and the music industry.

Companies and organisations represented included Xerox, Universal Music, Capgemini, Costain, the Guinness Trust Partnership, Macmillan Cancer Support, Sunrise Senior Living and the England & Wales Cricket Board.

The evening was hosted in partnership with Lane End?s events partners Hi5 Events and Drum Caf? UK?s interactive drumming experience.

Hi5 Events provided a taster of its motorised activities in the grounds, including motorised bath tubs and beer kegs.

Lane End has 40 years of experience as an independent conference centre and is a member of the Meetings Industry Association.

Lane End?s conference meeting rooms offer peace and quiet for effective working thanks to its idyllic rural location in 26 acres of beautiful Chilterns countryside.

The popular conference venue is also very easy to reach thanks to swift and easy access via the M4, M40 and M25.

This combination of countryside location and proximity to London makes it an ideal management training centre for City executives.

Lane End?s 34 conference rooms and 104 bedrooms are divided between five separate buildings, allowing a company to book an entire building to themselves, ensuring their business meeting venue always offers complete privacy.

Latest improvements include a major refurbishment of its Wycombe Lodge building plus the addition of a new Experiential Learning Centre, the only training venue of its kind in the London area.
